The Annual General Meeting

15th March 2007

The annual meeting of the society was held on Thursday March 15th in St Paul’s Chapel Schoolroom, Abergele, with approximately 60 members attending.

Prior to the business agenda, a pleasing ceremony took place with the presentation of a book token and floral arrangement to Eirian Evans, who in April completes 40 years as a member and sometime chairman. She was a founder member in 1966 when the society was formed.

Officers appointed were;

  • Ken Willis : Chairman
  • Bill Tomlinson : Treasurer
  • Jean Willis : Secretary

Committee members appointed were:

  • Gwyneth Davies
  • Ydwen Davies
  • Eirian Evans
  • Catherine Evans
  • John Jones
  • Gwyneth Wiliams

The excursion list was presented to the members and they were also shown the new website by its designer Bryn Harries, a new member of the society.

Following the annual meeting, the group heard a lecture by a member, Goronwy Davies, on the Fairs and Markets of Abergele.

The breadth of his knowledge of the fairs and markets, not only of Abergele, but the whole of North Wales was quite amazing.

John Jones’ vote of thanks conveyed everyone’s enjoyment of a fascinating lecture.
